Palestinian-American Youth Freed After Nine Months in Israel's Detention

An Palestinian-American adolescent having endured a nine-month period in Israeli detention without charge gained freedom.

Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 at the time of his arrest in February within the occupied West Bank, where he was visiting while residing in Florida under suspicion of rock throwing against settlement residents, claims he consistently denied.

American diplomatic officials applauded Mohammed's liberation.

Mohammed, now 16, was taken to hospital for treatment immediately after release, according to close relatives.

According to them, he appears visibly pale and thin, and is suffering from conditions acquired while detained.

Through an official statement, the youth's uncle expressed the family's "immense relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" over the last nine months.

"At this moment, we are focused on getting Mohammed the immediate medical attention he needs after being subjected to harsh conditions and inhumane conditions for months."

The state department said it would continue to provide consular support to the teenager's relatives.

{"American leadership gives utmost importance to ensuring the safety of US citizens"," the department emphasized.

A group of American legislators endorsed a document to diplomatic officials and President Donald Trump, urging greater action to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, with four children managing a frozen treats business based in Tampa, previously claimed Mohammed acknowledged allegations regarding stone throwing due to physical abuse.

He had not seen or spoken to Mohammed since the arrest, learning information solely what had happened to him in detention through court documents.

Mohammed was held lacking indictment within Ofer penitentiary throughout the occupied territory.

It is also home to mature inmates, including individuals found guilty of serious terrorism offences and homicide.

An estimated 350 Palestinian child security detainees being held in Israeli jails, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Several lack formal charges along with monitoring agencies, including UN bodies, report instances of mistreatment and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, Mr Kadur said the family would also continue fighting seeking justice for their relative their cousin Sayfollah.

This young American-Palestinian who the Palestinian health ministry said succumbed to assault by settlement residents amid clashes last July.

Initially, defense forces stated officials were investigating accounts of a Palestinian had died.

The two cousins collaborated in the family ice cream shop in Tampa, Florida.

No charges have been filed with Sayfollah's killing.

"We demand United States leadership to safeguard our relatives," Mr Kadur said.
