More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced passing more hours together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the production, commenting that he doesn't recollect "a single day without mirth".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.

This week, a Los Angeles judge agreed to block the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A court order placed a restriction on the cases to prohibit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the result of foul play, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
