Clair Obscur Dominates at the 2025's Golden Joystick Ceremony
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and in a stunning display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the biggest winner. This standout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the prestigious Top Game award, along with accolades for Outstanding Narrative and Top Visual Design.
Complementing the studio's success, its gifted actors also garnered personal awards. Jennifer English received Best Lead Performer for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Best Supporting Performer for his work as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Best Development Team. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its makers achieved seven awards during the ceremony.
Other standout winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which won Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and PC Game of the Year. Worth mentioning, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the gamers, with only four awards—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamers’ Choice—judged by experts.
